Women Rule Pipeline for 3 Days

Women's Pipeline Pro goes off in great surf!

The  Culturization  Women’s Pipeline Pro Benefit for Girl Scouts allowed women got to rule Pipline for three days.  Banzai Betty Productions put on a great contest with shortboard, longboard and bodyboard divisions, and a stand up paddle exhibition.  The women ranged from 12 to 42 years old and came from all over the world.

The shortboard contest was an ASP 4 Star rated event with a $25,000 purse.  The longboard contest was a WLA 4 Star rated event with a $7,000 purse.  The bobyboard contest was an IBA Grand Slam event with a $15,000 purse.

The waves were solid six to eight feet with very good conditions.  It was great to see women get their chance at good Pipeline with only 4 in the water at a time.  They did not disappoint.  The women showed they can hold their own at one of the worlds most renowned breaks.

The lone (former) East Coaster was Leah Dawson.  Last year she won the longboard and finished second in shortboard.  She didn’t do as well this year, finishing in 9th place in longboard and 13th place in shortboard.  She still walked away with $700.

Where are are the East Coast Girls?  When you have a chance to surf Pipeline and get WQS points, you should jump at it!
