45th Annual Easter Surf Fest

What a Blast

I love people. People of all kinds…so this weekend at the 45th Ron Jon Easter Surfing Festival, I was in people Heaven! There were seas of people along the shore from every walk of life and all were having a blast, which was evident by big smiles and greetings of joy. The weather was perfect! The surf wasn’t as perfect as it could have been, but it didn’t diminish the fun!

I’ve only had the pleasure of 3 visits since I’ve lived here in Brevard County, but the rich history of the event shows in the quality of this mega 4 day event. The types of water exhibits are tailored around our fickle Florida surf. They’ve added new events this year like the skimboarding and paddle boarding events.

All Featured events were the Ron Jon $5,000 Men's Longboard Pro/Am, Ron Jon $1,000 Women's Longboard Pro/Am, Steven G. Casanova $2,000 Men's Shortboard Open, Banana Boat Stand Up Paddleboard Surfing Event, Ron Jon Easter Bunny Skim Bash and the Cocoa Beach Surf Museum Fl or IDA State Paddleboard Championship.

The family atmosphere was absolutely awesome.

Things have changed from back in the day when the festival was geared around partying, bikini contests, rock concerts and crazy activities such as greased-pole climbing. There were a lot more things for the kids this year like an Easter egg hunt, a surf movie was shown at The Pier and there were torch jugglers on the beach.

Every day there was a performance by this KA-razy stunt pilot Rob Holland of Ultimate Airshows. That was really cool! He went all out and preformed amazing stunts.

It was an extra special milestone for the festival this year as Ron Jon Surf Shop celebrated 50 years of business.

Me and the Capt where there Saturday and Sunday hanging out in the SG tent by the Sandbar helping to raise money for our local hero and warrior, Mike Rogers and Grind for Life.

The girls from Brevard Night Life stopped at the tent and said HI and donated!

We didn’t do to bad! It a wonderful cause, always do what you can when you can for those you can.

I want to give a huge thanks to all that stopped by the tent, The Sandbar Sports Grill, Ron Jon’s Surf Shop and the entire staff of ESF ’09.

Looking forward to seeing you guys on the beach soon!
