melbourne beach surf report

Friday: Thigh to waist with lucky bigger sets at around 8 seconds from the ENE with winds From the E/SE in the mid teens so look for protection to avoid choppy conditions.

melbourne beach surf forecast

Saturday:  ENE swell continues in the thigh to waist range.  Winds drop off a bit cleaning things up a little especially north of the Cape.

Sunday:  We have a little lull as the ENE Swell fades and is replaced by a Nice looking East swell.  Wave size drops just a bit to the mostly thigh to lucky waist zone.  Gentle NE winds should add just a touch of chop but not at all bad.

Looking ahead: Next week is looking good as the new East swell starts to solidify.  There should be plenty of 10 sec waves in the waist+ to lucky chest to start the week with Surf Peaking on Wednesday in the chest with lucky bigger sets range.  Winds are forecast to be onshore for Mon-Tues and from the South on Weds So expect some chop on Mon, Tues and look for a South wind protected area on Wednesday.

melbourne beach surf break information

At the western end of Ocean Avenue on the Indian River is historic Ryckman Park which has gazebos and many sports activities besides a 430-foot pier. Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge along A1A is known as a haven for sea turtles and, in fact, about one-fourth of the turtles that nest in the United States do so at this refuge each summer.

With the abundance of wildlife on this barrier island, there are plenty of places to get close to nature. Three hiking trails you might want to check out are:
● Coconut Point Sanctuary (3/4 mile loop)
● Maritime Hammock Sanctuary (Two mile trail)
● Mountain Bike Trail (Connects Long Point Park and Sebastian Inlet State Recreation Area)

There have been many treasure finds due to Spanish ships that were lost along the east coast of Florida during hurricane season. The McLarty Treasure Museum and the Mel Fisher Treasure Museum are about 15 miles south of Melbourne Beach, Florida in Sebastian.
