melbourne beach surf report

Monday: We have knee to thigh high leftovers with the occasional lucky bigger sets at 9 sec for the east. Winds are light from the East.

melbourne beach surf forecast

Tuesday: Back to knee to lucky thigh at 8 sec from the east.

Looking ahead: Knee to lucky thigh for most of the week in the 8 sec range then we are dropping off to the smaller stuff for the weekend.  Winds will trend onshore and back off in the mornings a bit with the normal summer breezes.  A high-pressure system is currently settled in the central Atlantic, and forecasts suggest it will remain there until early next month. This system is creating a calm zone across the mid-Atlantic.

However, there are signs that the high pressure will shift northward after the 1st, which could allow waves of energy from Africa to move through, increasing the likelihood of tropical storms or hurricanes in the mid to northern Atlantic.  We may see an active August so be ready and be safe.
