Spring Fourth Goes Big!

Skate contest at CBSP is a huge success!

The weather was amazing Saturday for the “Spring Fourth Contest” held at my favorite local spot, Cocoa Beach Skate Park. But we do live in paradise, what else should I expect but sunshine and good people?

The competition was well organized and MC’d, the crowd was enthusiastic. The competitors all had their game faces on and the action was hot. Kids from all over the area, Merritt Island, Melbourne, Cocoa Beach, Satellite Beach and beyond, were all in attendance

All the skaters did an awesome job out there! But one in particular caught my eye. The only female entered in the contest, a young lady named Lea Taylor, a Cocoa Beach Local. From what I hear she has just returned from a trip to California and it looks like that trip gave her a ‘leg up’ in her skating skills! This girl didn’t even wait for her tunes to start before she dropped in. She hit the cradle full speed and inverted half way up before I knew what hit me ~I hit record and she was rockin’ it! She threw down some gnarly tricks to come out and smash the contest, bringing it all the way from 50/50 grinds to rock the fakies to a nice air at the end. Make sure you check out her video underneath the story and pics.

It’s always a pleasure for me to run into Mike Rogers of Grind for Life, he’s my favorite local hero. Mike was there showing his support as always. Captain Kean’o had never met Mike before and it was an awesome day for Keane. Mike was a huge inspiration for Keane to get back to his surfing after a major injury kept him out of the water for a long time.

They also cemented the relationship that Surfguru has with the Grind For Life organization. Count on SG to be raising money at every event we do for our friends at GFL. Remember; SKATE AND DESTROY CANCER!

Pay Grind for Life a visit online if you can’t make it to an event www.grindforlife.org and do your online shopping there and help families in need. You can also do your onland shopping at the Thrift For Life shop on A1A in the old Natural Art building.

Did I mention the CBSP store is having a KILLER clearance sale on Globe skate shoes? All kinds of styles/sizes and I saw them as low as $28.00!  I tried and can’t beat that anywhere.

And always remember that you can scope out CBSP anytime of the day with the Surfguru Remote SkateCam!
