Kai Barger, 19, from Haiku, Maui won the Billabong World Junior Championships over Jadson Andre of Brazil.
Kai beat Nobuyuki Osawa, Charles Martin, Stuart Kennedy, Matt Wilkinson, Marc Lacomore and of course Jadson Andre on his way to the win.
Kai will receive a round of 128 seed into all 6 star, 6 star prime, and Super Series events this year. This will be a big boost to the young man rated 384. Jadson finished last year rated WQS # 22, so his seed will go to one of the semi finalists, Tanner Gudauskis, or Marc Lacomore. Tanner finished WQS # 60 this year with help from his semi final finish last year, so Marc will probably get the boost.
Congratulations to all that made the Billabong World Junior Championships. It is a long, tough year of competition to make the top 5 or 6 of your region.
