The Supervillians Hit up Indialantic

The Supervillians

Hey guys, Beebs here. Back on the scene last night @ The Lodge in Downtown Orlando to catch up with The Supervillians. Fresh off their Law Records tour with Slightly Stoopid and Pepper, they're making a few stops on their break to bring it back local.  With 4 records under their belts, the 1st was self-titled and recorded when they were 15-16 yrs old.  Dom says only 1000 copies exist and, "If you can find it, it's probably at a pawn shop somewhere."   The next album was Irie Shred in '98, followed by Jahmerica in '03, with latest one being Grow Ur Own in '06. The Supervillians are no spring chickens to the music industry. I got a chance to chat with Dom ( drummer, vocalist ) and talk about what they're up to on their down time.

Beebs: How's it been since signing with Law Records?
Dom: It's been amazing.  We've been on the road for the last 4 months straight. Our fan base has grown 100%. We've been touring with Slightly Stoopid and Pepper who are all such awesome guys. We've gotten to play every major city in the country like at least 3 times. It couldn't be better.

Beebs: Thats a lot of people and venues, any crazy stories from tour?
Dom:
Thats the thing, I can't remember like any one crazy story. Being on tour itself is always crazy. When you're gone for that long doing shows, gettin wasted every night, you start to lose track of what day or even month it is. The "crazy" shit I do remember is when we were playin in Milwaukee. There are all these crazy old venues with basements and some are abandoned. I just remember getting wasted with all those dudes from Slightly Stoopid and going around with flash lights through all these old sketchy building and flashin it around to see if we could catch any "crazy shit" . It was scary as fuck.

Beebs: Sounds like a blast, but now that you guys are home what are your plans?
Dom:
Well we're really only on break to finish writing our new album, which should start recording in Febuary. Other than that we've just been catching up with friends and family. Skart ( Guitar, vocalist) and I have been doing a lot of fishing out in Kissimmee, and Smally ( sax ) is still traveling and jammin out with Pepper.

Beebs: Fishin's where its at. I mean I know you guys have a huge fan base and you're on Law Records and everything, but when you guys get even bigger and more bad-ass,( if that's possible, I mean you rock so hard now), are you still gonna come back and play the Hustler and The Lodge or are we gonna have to go see you at House of Blues or Hardrock?
Dom: Well, Sometimes you get on a tour that takes you so far off the beaten path, but... fuck yea! Florida is our roots, especially the beach. On the weekends here ever since I was a kid thats where we went on the weekends when we wanted to go to the beach. Cocoa Beach, Melbourne, Sebastian. We may not have the biggest waves or the best surf, but we're on the map, and its pretty bad ass that we live and get to surf where so many of the pros came from.

Beebs: Don't forget about the red tide
Dom:
Oh yea, all the floating manatees and dolphins, don't want to forget that.

Beebs: Well, Dom, it sounds like it's been pretty sweet for The Supervillians, anything you want to say to the fans?
Dom: Yea, smoke me out when you see me and thanks for all your support!

Alright there you have guys. If you have never checked out The Supervillians, ( which if you haven't its okay we don't blame you for not having cool friends to show you good music), you won't want to miss them this Friday at The Hustler. Hope to see ya there!
