SURFRIDER FOUNDATION TO SHARE STOKE OF SURFING WITH BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF CENTRAL FLORIDA AS PART OF INTERNATIONAL SURFING DAY

Free event coincides with Father's Day and includes surf clinic, beach cleanup, and more

SATELLITE BEACH, FL – In celebration of the 6th Annual International Surfing Day (and Father's Day) on June 20th, the Surfrider Foundation – Sebastian Inlet Chapter is teaming up with local organizations and businesses to share the love of surfing with area children and the whole community.

As part of this year's International Surfing Day celebration at Howard E. Futch Memorial Park at Paradise Beach in Indialantic, the Sebastian Inlet Chapter has partnered with NexGeneration Surf School of Cocoa Beach to provide a free surfing clinic for children from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Florida. Kids will learn about the beach and ocean, help with a beach clean-up, and then take to the waves for their chance to ride a surfboard.

“We are proud partners of the Surfrider Foundation and would like to thank NexGeneration Surf School for offering the opportunity for our children to learn how to surf. We are a very active mentoring organization that is always trying to find children in need and additional mentors in the community,”says Percy Snyder, Service Delivery Manager, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Florida.

All beachgoers are welcome. In addition to the surf clinic, there will be an environmental presentation including a turtle lesson from a UCF Marine Turtle Research Group representative, a beach clean-up, and refreshments provided by Tropical Smoothies Café.

Bring a dad to this free event on June 20, 2010 at Howard E. Futch Memorial Park at Paradise Beach (2301 North Highway A1A, Indialantic). Look for the Surfrider Foundation tent on the beach.

Event schedule:
- Registration/Welcome: 9:30am-10am
- Environmental discussion: 10am-10:30am
- Beach clean-up: 10:30am-11am
- Surf clinic: 11am-1pm
