It has definitely been the week of the trout! Just get yourself out of the wind and you should get some nice trout. I cant believe how many gators were caught this week. My clients and I landed 8 trout over 5lbs this week on DOA shrimp and CALs and countless more in between 9-20 inches. The snook are in too, no slobs this week just some small males, but there are still a blast! The Reds and Flounder have been a little more elusive the past week. One of my clients got into a 15lb red in Melbourne , and we caught a couple rats, but It has been harder to spot the tailers with the wind.
If you're seeing fish pound mullet and are having trouble getting them to hit artificials, Try throwing a weightless CAL or a shrimp in the school. You can keep the bait on or near surface and have realitively slow presentation simulating a wounded mullet. I had alot of success with this yesterday and got into some snook as well as big trout.
I got a couple new setups that I cant wait to try on the water. Two light action rods with 1500 Capricorns spooled with 4lb mono. They should be alot of fun when getting into a bunch of trout.
