Weekly Indian River Lagoon Fishing Report 3/7

That cold front that came through in the beginning of the week really churned things up. The fish moved out of the shallow flats and scattered about.  Early in the week, We were still catching some reds but definitely not like we had been last week, though. The only thing that seemed to get fish to bite during that cold front and easterly wind was a weedless rigged fluke on a very slow retrieve.

Now that we got all the bad news out of the way, He is the good news. Saturday and Sunday were hot. As the wind started to shift direction and the weather started to warm up the bite came back on.  They were back to their old selves, engulfing live or DOA shrimp. Once again, the fish are in very shallow water. If you are fishing near one of the inlets, I found that low tide has been best. If you are fishing the lagoon 10 miles or more away from an inlet, it doesnt really matter.  I am really excited to see how this week plays out. It is going to be warm and sunny.  I think the big females are going to make their way back into the lagoon from the ocean.  They are just waiting for that perfect spring weather and I think It is finally here.
