Deuterman Productions.com presents Reggae phenomenon King Yellowman to Beachside Tavern in New Smyrna Beach, Florida on Monday, August 1st, 2011

Yellowman was born Winston Foster in Kingston, Jamaica in 1956.  The name Yellowman was gained from his albino complexion which led him to be a victim of neglect by his parents and forced to live in multiple orphanages in Jamaica.  Gravitating towards music at an young age he started a career in DJing and Toasting and in the early 1980’s gained immediate notoriety by winning a Tastee Talent Competition and since 1982 has released 26 albums.  In 1986 he learned that he had developed jaw cancer which resulted in six surgeries; however he still released two albums that year.  King Yellowman is regarded as the father of dancehall reggae and the pioneer of American rap.  Yellowman’s AA-AB riddims have been duplicated by hip-hop artists such as KRS-One, Notorious BIG, Mos Def, Tupac and Talib Kweli.  NWA and RUN-DMC have also both used his vocals on their tracks.

Yellowman has been written in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most albums released in one year (over 50 since 1982,) was the first dancehall artist to be nominated for a Grammy, the first dancehall artist to work in rap, the first dancehall artist to be signed to a major label (CBS Records) and was given the key to the City of Ft. Lauderdale.  Through his life achievements and struggles, Yellowman has strengthened his belief system and established a new tour to share his love of life and music that will bring him to Florida after an extensive European tour he finished in May.  Deuterman Productions.com presents King Yellowman to Beachside Tavern in New Smyrna Beach.  Come experience an influential and efficacious artist in a venue sure to create a genuine and intimate energy.
