SEBASTIAN INLET STATE PARK TO HOST NIGHT SOUNDS CONCERT SERIES

~Concert will feature Billy Mure, Debbie Murphy and the Top Hats under the moon and stars~

 

SEBASTIAN INLET – The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Sebastian Inlet State Park will feature a concert in the “Night Sounds” program series on Saturday, September 29, 2012.

 

Hosted by the Friends of Sebastian Inlet State Park supporting National Public Lands Day, the concert will showcase recording artists Billy Mure, Debbie Murphy and the Top Hats. The 5-piece band plays music that will touch your heart. The Top Hats play all the great sounds from every generation back to the 1930’s. Be prepared to dance to Swing, Dixieland, Big Band, Jazz, Rock & Roll and Rhythm & Blues. The Top Hats play instruments including the guitar, banjo, keyboards, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, clarinet and French horn.

 

Billy Mure is 96 years young and his resume includes the who’s who of the late 1950’ and 1960’s.

Billy played guitar on records by Paul Anka, Perry Como, Eddie Fisher, Marty Robbins, Bobby

Darren, Steve and Eydie, Mitch Miller, Rosemary Cooney, Connie Francis, Cole Porter, Johnny

Mathis, Patti Page, Barbara Streisand, Liza Minelli, Ray Charles, Carole King, Sam Cook, Peter

Nero, Al Hirt and many others. Billy Mure is credited with writing 243 songs on the BMI

database. He wrote arrangements and songs recorded by Della Reese, Steve and Eydie, Jose

Feliciano, Robert Goulet, Sammy Davis Jr., Cab Calloway and many others. Billy Mure played on

the Arthur Godfrey show for six years. Billy’s list of TV shows that he has appeared on continues

with Jimmy Dean, Barbara Streisand’s first TV Special “Barbara”, Your Hit Parade, Sing Along

with Mitch and the Ed Sullivan TV Show.

 

Debbie Murphy’s incredible career led her to be the lead singer for top bands such as the Billy

May Orchestra, Bob Bachelor Orchestra, Hal McIntyre, Johnny Long Orchestra where she sang

the top hit “Shanty in old shanty town” and the Pee Wee Hunt Orchestra where they recorded for

Capital records.

 

We are starting off the fifth year of the Night Sounds at Sebastian Inlet State Park with a good time

journey down memory lane. Be ready to smile, dance and reminisce.

 

The concert will take place at the pavilions on Coconut Point, located on the south side of

Sebastian Inlet. The concert is free with regular park entry fees.
