Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Presents World Champion Surfer, Shaun Tomson,

and “The Light Shines Ahead”

Melbourne, Florida. Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy is opening its doors to the public on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 6:30 PM to present former world champion surfer, motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and author, Shaun Tomson. The event will be held at the Scott Center for Worship and the Performing Arts, located at the Pineda Campus at 5625 Holy Trinity Drive, Melbourne, FL 32940. Admission is free to the community.

Tomson was at the height of his career when his fifteen year old son died in a tragic accident. Tomson will tell how he drew on the lessons he learned surfing the world’s most dangerous waves and tell his story of faith and hope in “The Light Shines Ahead”. The presentation subject matter is appropriate for teenagers and adults.

Tomson, who is originally from South Africa and currently resides in California, has appeared on the Today Show and CNN and has been a keynote speaker for audiences from Disney, Toys R Us, Google, and Cisco. He is the author of Surfer’s Code and The Code – The Power of “I Will”. The presentation will be followed by a book signing and copies will be available for $20.

Prior to the evening event, Tomson will be addressing the schools’ fourth through sixth grades and seventh through twelfth grades regarding the importance of making good decisions and anti-bullying. 20,000 young people in the US, aged 15 to 24, die every day from preventable accidents caused by poor choices. Tomson’s goal is to make the students aware of the implications of their decisions. Christopher Hayes, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy’s Head of School, says, “We are so pleased Shaun Tomson will be speaking to our students, school families and the community. Character Education is an integral part of Holy Trinity’s curriculum, and it is our mission to develop strong citizens. Mr. Tomson’s message aligns well with that of the school’s.”
