Lost in Central America

Blog written by Ricky Hitchcock

Starting in the last week of May a friend and myself will be traveling throughout all of Central America for the next three months. During our adventures we will be posting photo's of surf, nature, culture, and whatever else we find along the way. Also, we will be sharing stories from our thoughts and daily experiences throughout the trip. Check us out as we get deeper in the drift!

The Journey Awaits

It was Thursday night and I help but smile while thinking about the approaching three months that I will be spending in Central America. As I sit on the couch and watch surf videos, I cant help but day dream about big round barrels and endless point breaks. My friend Nick and I have been amping for weeks and now we are only three days away! Our departure date is May 25th, Memorial day. We figured that it would be a pretty good day to fly on because people are usually just partying at home anyways. We arrive at our first destination at 1:30 pm and then we have a 3 1/2 hour drive to our first stop of the trip. We hope to get a evening session in, but if not we will atleast be able to see it and get ready for the first morning. Our first stop is actually the only planned stop of the journey so far. We paln to spend roughly a month there, then we are just letting the drift take us deep into unknown. I thought that not making any plans would add to the excitement of the trip, there is an unusally but good feeling about just floating along. Typically you find much better surf and a much wider variety of what the countries have to offer. Or atleast that was what I thought in my mind. As I start to winde down for the night I can still think of only one thing BIG ROUND BARRELS!
