The other day a friend of ours, Brian, was heading into town so we decided to catch ride. We had been waiting for this opportunity for quite some time now, we had to stock up on a few things….Rum, bread, peanut butter, Rum, snacks and Rum! The rum here is delicious! It’s called “ Flor De Cana” and is made right here in Nicaragua. The car ride to town takes about 30-45 min depending if you get stuck behind traffic, by traffic I mean a horse cart, a motorcyclist towing another man on a bike or anything else of that nature. Once we got into town we headed straight to get some local food. We pulled up to this little “ hole in the wall” diner and it had to be the cheapest, best meal that I had ever ate. The meal cost me $1.50 US, it was called “Plato Regular”, rice and beans, scrammbeld eggs, toast and fried sweet bananas, typical Nicaraguan dish. After breakfast we did some sight seeing, Brian drove us around and kinda gave us the whole tour before he went off to do his errands. After the grand tour we set off to do our own thing while we waited for Brian to finish what he was doing. We set off for the straw market about three blocks away, there were so many cool things to look at, ladies with baskets on their heads, cars and horse carts sharing the road, little kids running the streets, this city had it all. After about an hour we tried to make our way back to meet up with Brian and realized that we were lost! I mean really lost…this city had so many twists and turns and one way roads that we couldn’t seem to remember where we started off from. Eventually we made it back with a little help from a local woman who could speak some English. When we got back Brian wasn’t even finished so we just hungout on the street corner and watched the different shades of the city go by. The ride home was a blast, we shared our days stories and laughed all the way back
