Lost in Central America

Blog written by Ricky Hitchcock

Starting in the last week of May a friend and myself will be traveling throughout all of Central America for the next three months. During our adventures we will be posting photo's of surf, nature, culture, and whatever else we find along the way. Also, we will be sharing stories from our thoughts and daily experiences throughout the trip. Check us out as we get deeper in the drift!

Unpunk Photography shoot out

Last week I was fortunate enough to meet up with James from “unpunk photography” and his long time friend Kendall, who is also a photographer. My good friends at Surfguru sent James and Kendall down to shoot, although they were only here for a short amount of time we managed to capture some great shots. James and Kendall were on it every morning with all their toys, everything from standard gear, water gear and even video. It was awesome to have someone on the beach and in the water at all times, it allowed us to capture the some sick crossfire images.

When they first arrived the swell had dropped and it was only about head high but the conditions were perfect. The winds stayed offshore all day long for five days during their stay, which doesn’t happen often here. After about three days of average surf, a new swell filled in and we were able to get some nice barrel shots. One morning we woke up to double overhead peaks grinding down the beach, there was hardly anyone else out and it was absolutely firing. We surfed for hours and the crew from Unpunk Photography were on it the whole time with tons of different angles and lens’s.

Meeting up with the guys from Unpunk was an awesome time. We were able to have fun, surf and get some great shots in and out of the water. Im glad Surfguru was kind enough to send James and Kendall down to shoot and document part of what has been the best summer of my life!......Thank You!
