The fall equinox on September 23rd, 2011 marked the kick off party for the 18th Annual Melbourne Main Street Fall Festival produced by Melbourne Main Street and in part by Deuterman Productions, Tightline Productions and Event Success, LLC. The festival was held in historic downtown Melbourne on New Haven Avenue. Friday night was the Kick-Off/Patron Party which started at Matt's Casbah. Matt's hosted food vendors from select downtown restaraunts and exhibited art from Salvador Dali. The entertainment on the main stage started at 6PM and included local bands Ironwood, Mary Pastorius and a fashion show from Standard Collective. Headlining the evening was the incomporable Modern English with their original line up who graced the stage and rocked it like it was 1982 all over again. Playing hits from their previous albums including "I Melt with You," they included songs from their latest album appropriately entitled "Soundtrack" as many of their songs are in many of our internal soundtracks.

Saturday, September 24th's schedule started the juried art show with 160 booths of artists from all over the country. The Kid's Zone was run by kids for kids and included wild and domestic animals, multiple jumpy houses and Rock Star Row which was sponsored by Florida Eye Associates and South Beach Fitness. Rock Star Row included 5 stations; create a backstage pass, crazy hair, face paint, tattoos and a dance floor complete with DJ Mellow Dee AKA Donnie Price. There was also a Tag-A-Kid tent sponsored by Dr. Ross Clevens which created a bracelet tagging system to keep the littles safe in case they were separated from their parents. The entertainment on the main stage held local bands; Alfe/Tom Jones, Ovni, Elephant Gun, and 23 Treez. UNRB from Tampa, B-Liminal from Jupiter, Beebs and Her Money Makers from Orlando, Mike Pinto from San Diego with headliner The Supervillians from Orlando rocked the main stage until 11PM. DJs Jimmy South and Sleazy MCQueen brought together the open air in between to fill the day with non-stop music of all genres.

Sunday, September 25th's schedule continued the art show and Kid's Zone. This day also included an all day Reggae Party which included Lance-O from Miami, Kayavibe from Vero, The Duppies from Gainesville and headlining the main stage were Groove Stain from Atlanta, Georgia. Frankie Sly and Friends kept the side stage in the reggae party vibe all day until 5PM. With over 100 volunteers and numerous committee members, this year's Melbourne Main Street Fall Festival was a huge success and created a new bar for area festivals to try and rise above. Don't miss next year's festival, it's sure to be even bigger, better and tons more fun!
