"Dirty South Punk Rock"- Whole Wheat Bread

What happens when you combine Crunk with Punk? "Dirty South Punk Rock!". Jacksonville punk band Whole Wheat Bread is getting ready to release their new album "Hearts of Hoodlums", their follow- up album to last years "Punk Life". This will be their 3rd Cd released under Fighting Records. Whole Wheat Bread ( Aaron Abraham-vocals/guitar, Joseph "Mr. Whitefolks" Largen-drums, Will Frasier-bass/vocals), did such a good job on their version of Lil Jon's " I Don't Give a F***", that within days of posting it on their myspace they were contacted by the King of Crunk himself to do a collaboration. Since then they have recorded with Lil Jon in L.A and Las Vegas. The very same week they got the call from Lil Jon, their punk heroes Rancid called the boys to see if they would like to join them on their upcoming tour. Not bad for a band started by a Trinidad native who grew up in the slums of Miami and attended a multi-racial school, where he discovered punk rock. " I got into Green Day at a young age which was also when I started playing guitar" says Abraham, "but I was also rapping too". Today Abraham is is doing both, bringing fans of hip-hop and punk rock together with  a sound that includes the best elements of both genres. Whole Wheat Bread had toured with established band such as Suicide Machines, The aquabats, MxPx, Reel Big Fish and others. They just recently finished a tour with Authority Zero and is currently on tour with Rancid and The Voodoo Glowskulls. On the Hip-hop side there's Killah Priest of The Wu-Tang Clan and they currently have collaborated with rapper Murs. The project has been dubbed "The Invincibles", who just recently performed at Coachella music festival and were featured on MTV. Whole Wheat Bread is a breath of fresh air in the music scene. Check them out this Friday June 27th at The Hustler as they make a special trip to our town to teach us all a lesson in "Dirty South Punk Rock!".
