The 29th Annual NKF Rich Salick Pro-Am Surf Festival (8/29 - 9/01/14) is the LARGEST surfing charity competition in the world! It's held at The Cocoa Beach Pier, featuring Professional & Amateur Surfing Competitions, Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) & Tandem Competitions, Skateboard, Karate, Entertainment, Family Fun & Volunteering. ALL proceeds go to the NKF of Florida to support programs in patient services, research, public & professional education & organ donation. The festival also strives to increase awareness of kidney disease w/ an emphasis on prevention & support for organ donation. 1 in 9 adults have chronic kidney disease & most don’t know it. The Taste of Brevard Silent Auction Event, including a live auction & sampling of over 20 restaurants, will be held at the Radisson Resort at the Port from 6 PM-10 PM on August 31st. There will be no volunteer meeting this Thursday, August 14th. Our next volunteer meeting will be next Thursday, August 21st and will take place at the City Commission Meeting at City Hall where we will petition for the city to donate Pulsipher and Meade Avenue for Labor Day. The 29th Annual NKF Rich Salick Pro/Am Surf Festival Final Results COCOA BEACH, FL – More than 400 professional and amateur surfers competed in the 29th Annual NKF Rich Salick PRO/AM Surf Festival. The popular Surf Festival presented by Ron Jon Surf Shop included world class surfing and the Taste of Brevard/Silent Auction to benefit the National Kidney Foundation of Florida raising thousands of dollars, while building awareness of kidney disease and the need for organ donation. Proceeds collected will benefit the programs and services of the National Kidney Foundation of Florida, helping patients with kidney disease. The charity surf event was a great success, bringing in thousands of beach goers and spectators who enjoyed the surfing, tandem exhibitions, medical exhibits, and post beach events held each night of the Festival. Hey what's up. Surfed legends long board didn't make the semi-finals. I was told I did ok! I would like to bring up a over head in the barrel to Mark Johnson aka Howie for 1st place in the seniors division. He earned it!!!!
