Surfing Santas is an annual Cocoa Beach tradition that brings hundreds of surfers of all ages and thousands of spectators, all dressed up as Santa, Elves, Snowmen and everything else in between. The costumes are as diverse as the people that wear them. Watch them ride in on the waves and kick off your holiday beach-side at this free event that benefits local, charitable causes. Family friendly with all kinds of entertainment on stage and in the ocean.
Join in the fun with our Costume Contest- beginning promptly at 8:30 am. Dress up in your favorite winter themed outfit – snowman, Santa and Mrs. Claus, gingerbread man, reindeer, elves – for your chance to win prizes. The more creative the costume, the better your chances of winning. The crowd canparticipate in the contest by giving applause for their favorite costume. The crowd favorites will determine the winners. There are five categories: babies (0-3), kids (4-15), groups (2 people or more), men (16+), and women (16+).
Events include
• Festive surfing sessions
• Live music and dancers
• A holiday costume contest that draws wildly creative entries each year
• Photo ops and community meetups that have become part of many families’ holiday traditions
For locals, Surfing Santas marks the true start of Christmas. It’s a reminder of what makes the Space Coast special: community, creativity, and a deep love for the ocean. Whether you’re paddling out or cheering from the sand, the event captures the spirit of togetherness that defines Cocoa Beach.
Surfing Santas is a call for “all the tribes to gather” and share joy, hope, and holiday stoke on the beach.
But Surfing Santas isn’t just about fun — it’s also about giving back. The event raises funds for the Florida Surf Museum and Grind for Life, a nonprofit supporting cancer patients and families
