Florida Surf Report/Forecast and Tropical Outlook for July 22nd 2024

Atlantic Surf Report and Forecast

Monday:  We have knee to thigh high leftovers with the occasional lucky bigger sets at 9 sec for the east.  Winds are light from the East.

Tuesday:    Back to knee to lucky thigh at 8 sec from the east.

Looking ahead:  Knee to lucky thigh for most of the week in the 8 sec range then we are dropping off to the smaller stuff for the weekend.  Winds will trend onshore and back off in the mornings a bit with the normal summer breezes.  A high-pressure system is currently settled in the central Atlantic, and forecasts suggest it will remain there until early next month. This system is creating a calm zone across the mid-Atlantic.
However, there are signs that the high pressure will shift northward after the 1st, which could allow waves of energy from Africa to move through, increasing the likelihood of tropical storms or hurricanes in the mid to northern Atlantic.  We may see an active August so be ready and be safe.

Gulf Coast Surf report and Forecast
Monday:

Gulfsters:  flat

Panhandle:  Small to flat

Tuesday:

Gulfsters: A small start to the day but we could see a little SSW knee high swell wave later in the day with winds trending from the south.

Panhandle: Staying on the small side
Looking ahead:

Gulfsters:  Expect some small leftover waves on Wednesday morning, but conditions will drop to small to flat by Thursday and Friday. The weekend is looking completely flat.

Panhandle:  The small swell that reached the Gulfsters late Tuesday is expected to arrive in the Panhandle by midday Wednesday and could stick around until Friday. Anticipate knee to thigh-high waves, with the possibility of a few lucky bigger sets at the prime spots starting Wednesday. The swell will gradually diminish as we approach the weekend, leading to smaller conditions.

All clear though the weekend But the Area of High pressure camping in the  Atlantic looks like it may start to head North for the start of August so be ready.
