Update 9/28/25
Both Humberto and Imelda are tracking closer to us than originally forecast. Humberto will still make its northward hook but will now pass around 700 miles to the east as a major Hurricane
TD Nine (Imelda) is heading north from the eastern end of Cuba and will be passing around 150 miles to our east on its way north Sunday through Monday. TD Nine is still not expected to make landfall in FL but it will bring us additional storms and rain fall for Sunday and parts Monday. The storm is expected to stay a Tropical Strom as it passes Florida and perhaps build into a Cat 1 Hurricane on Tuesday as it makes a hard trun to the east as it gets cuaght up in the pull from Humberto.

We’re currently tracking two disturbances in the Atlantic. Despite their close proximity, which typically leads to one system robbing energy from the other, the National Hurricane Center is giving both a 90% chance of development. The Euro model supports this, showing both storms curving northward. The closer system is projected to pass about 250 miles offshore, while the second tracks around 600 miles out. The ICON model also keeps them separate, though it places both a bit farther east as the pass the coast. If both of these storms form we will have Humberto and Imelda joining the list of 2025 storms.

The GFS on the other hand is predicting that the first area of low pressure with die out and the second will continue to form and swing north around 700 miles out. Personally, this is what I was expecting but this is turning out to be an odd Hurricane season so a double storm could happen.

GFS Model forecast 9/30 5am
The good news is none of the models are expecting a landfall in Florida. The bad news is if the closer storm gains enough energy for formation it will mean lower quality surf and potentially stronger winds and erosion.
