Space Coast Music Festival 2013

e.A.R.T.H. Awareness’s Music in the schools program

Here we are ridin up to our friendly neighbors that were so kind to let us share their tent, since neither SurfGuru.com, nor Diversified Productions needed a whole tent to themselves. Sharing is caring...and more fun :) And fun is what we had today while watching all the young and talented musicians from the surrounding Brevard County Schools perform onstage as if they were famous, in an effort to raise money for low-income schools to purchase musical instruments. We are narrowing our children's minds enough with the changing curriculums and standardized testing, so broadening them with art and music gives more hope to this world.

Where would we be without music? No music in restaurants, movies, fitness centers or computers. No live concerts to attend, no tails to be gated. Music is life and shapes the independent lives of children and adults alike. Music is also art and art is expressing and sharing who we are with the world. At a young age, we all want to show off our unique abilities and find our place on this planet of possibities. That is exactly what students, parents, volunteers, vendors and musicians did today as we all came together and brought our own treats to the table; making it a feast for all.

We had Jackie Hamara Grieve, with Diversified Productions (jgrieve34@gmail.com), pointing out everyone's invovement in this festival. Hawk Levy (hawklevy@gamil.com) playing with his band "Hurricane Hawk and the Invadors" to help raise money and talking to us about how music all started with "the blues" during the slavery period back in the day. Bonnie Galloway and Lee Daniels (rockshowparties@yahoo.com) had an entire stage with numerous instruments set up overlooking the beautiful bay for people to try and to help promote their business "Rock Show parties". If you hire them you become the star, on your own stage, at the destination of your choice, with the band and crowd of your discretion. Lee Daniels was in the 80's band "firehouse"...so he comes from a background of metal and music. Lee and Bonnie also had tables set up to make your own instruments from holistic sources, like coffee beans, rice, and plastic eggs.

They also had an art table set up for hands-on shell/rock painting, as well as a face painter available to turn you into your favorite fantasy. Ed Eliason (good2groovemusic@gmail.com) and pete Martin (petermartin543@gmail.com) had a small shop set up with musical supplies and they also brought about 20 drums with them to help children with disabilities engage in a drum circle of love. Ed actually travels to different schools with his drums to help educate and encourage children of all ages and abilites about the joy of music, and what it can do for your life and the lives of those around you. He is an amazing man with an oversized heart. He even had one autistic student that never spoke a word in his life speak after playing in his drum circle...what a miraculous master.

We also spoke with the Cocoa Beach chapter of surf rider on how to make restaurants and businesses more likely to "go green", since they do so much volume, and how to reduce the amount of cigarettes we see on our beaches by using their "butt container". I would like to personally thank everyone for donating their time to come out and help make this day a huge success for children, adults and music in general. Rock on!
