Rusty's New Deck and Tiki Bar are Now Open..

Don't look now…Rusty's at the Port has grown again!
By Kaptain Bone and Kimmie Stone

On Friday, October 14th Rusty’s combined a ribbon cutting ceremony with a VIP party to thank all the people that have supported the seafood and oyster bar that has been family run and owned since 1988.  Rusty, Rhett and Sherrell Fischer were all present along with Joe Matheney, the Chairman Port Commissioner, to cut the ribbon and to launch the newest addition to the Port after five long years and hundreds of hours of permitting.  The Fischers have a new jewel to add to their crown of achievements here at the Port by completing a brand new deck, tiki bar and stage on the water behind the restaurant.

It was well appreciated when Rhett Fisher included the Surfguru team when he invited everyone out for the grand opening complete with food, drinks and music. As Buddha and I entered the event we were drawn first to the huge raw bar with all the oysters and seasoned shrimp you could eat. After having our fill I had to drag Buddha away to the other delicacies that awaited us at the other food station.  Blackened Mahi Mahi with a spicy sauce, unique Rice Crispy encrusted shrimp kabobs and Rusty's famous Crab Au Gratin. The Mahi was cooked perfectly and the spicy sauce added to the blackened flavor. The Rice Crispy shrimp was a real treat with the orange marmalade dip; it was no surprise to see everyone enjoying these crispy delights. Last but not least was our favorite; Crab Au Gratin with creamy chunks of crab.  To put the icing on the cake; a chocolate fountain with fresh strawberries, pineapple and pound cake was complemented by a champagne fountain and mini key lime cheese cakes made world famous by Mrs. Fischer. The stage was christened by Reggae Roots, Dennie Lee and the Lights Out Project.  If you’re looking for a great all around seafood experience and want to enjoy a nice time on the water, Rustys’ new deck at the Port is the place to be.
