New to fishing... looking for advice and/or resources please

Hello!

I've always loved the idea of fishing, and I've gone 5 or 6 times in my life before this year. Now I'm making it a point to go at least once a month, and I've been keeping that up so far! I have been dock fishing  twice in Cedar Key, and just yesterday I rented a boat and went with a few friends... caught 5 different species and had a blast!

What I'm looking for are any resources you recommend I use for fish in season, places to fish without a boat, guides for what I can keep  , guides for identification, and any advice of any kind! FYI I'm in the Gainesville/Ocala area. but I'll go anywhere withing a couple hours.

I don't really have any friends who fish, and while I live in Florida I definitely don't have family who fishes. Thanks in advance for anything you have to say.

I'm a fisherman. I've always loved fishing. I grew up fishing for trout.

Before you head out, make sure you have a current fishing license for the state you’ll be fishing in. Licenses are sold online or at fishing shops and occasionally in convenience stores. The price of a day license is usually fairly inexpensive (less than $20), but the exact price depends on the state and your residency, as fishing licenses cost more for nonresidents. But annual licenses are a better bang for your buck, typically going for between $30 and $150. If nothing disastrous happens your first time (don’t worry, chances are low), you might even want to go again.
