Kapn Bone Food Review

www.a1apizza.com/“Making dough, selling dough”

It’s your good old Kapn. Bone here with this weeks Food Review.

Just when you though that you have seen it all Buddha comes up with something totally new, how about a restaurant in a Gas station!

Yea it’s kinda hard to imagine but in these economical times it makes perfect sense, with the high cost of rental space and with all it takes to even open a business why not combine it with a gas station and a convenience store. When you pull up to the Exxon in Satellite Beach you can fill up the car and the Family in one easy stop!

My parents owned a take out pizza place back in the late sixties in Miami Beach, so I was pretty familiar with the whole set-up. The first thing John our host hooked us up with was a big Strom “Boni” a huge pizza dough stuffed with Pepperoni, Sausage and Meatballs, throw in some Mushrooms a pile of fresh mozzarella and there you have it!

We went outside to the conveniently located picnic tables and dug into our masterpiece. The Stom was cooked evenly but nice and crunchy on the out side. The combination just melted in my mouth. We went back inside to see what was next on the list and we were handed a Pepperoni and Black Olive Pizza, this we stood and ate just like in Greenwich Village, where nobody has time to sit. The most important thing to get right is the dough, if you don’t have that right you might as well go home. Well John’s dough was right on, not only the flavor but the overall texture through out the pizza.

But it dose not stop here with pizza. You see at Aloha they have the good old fashioned oven , with a big thick brick inside. This allows them to also make the best and freshest bread’s and bagels that you have ever tasted. It get’s better, when you come in a see the prices it will not be long before your a regular.

John insisted we try a couple of house salad’s with there own home made dressings. The first was a Creamy Balsamic, this was nice and light and over the fresh greens and real tomatoes not those nasty white one’s some lesser places throw at you . Nice, a smooth taste with a vinegar finish They were also adorned with seeded cucumbers and fresh broccoli. We tried the other dressing a Honey Apple Vinegar that was equally delicious, hinting apple and honey flavors. It was the perfect break that we needed.

To top off our meal we had been eyeing some big fat chicken drumsticks that Amanda was preparing. The Spicy Luau Chicken Drumsticks were a big hit, not some little wing but a full bite with a signature dry rub that been a secret in John’s family since 1786. They were served with pineapple chunks and ranch dressings just fall off the bone good with out all the frying.

We were starting to get a little crazy from all the good food when like magic something that I have never had appeared, Cannoli Pizza! Thank God I had some help with it because the old pant’s were getting tight! We want to thank John and Amanda for the great time.

It’s real easy, your driving down A 1A in Satellite Beach you need gas, milk and dinner. The whole thing will take about five minutes, your going to be a hero! Just call them before you go and don't forget to tell them Kapn Bone sent ya!!!
