2009 Crawfish Boil for the Cancer Care Foundation

Long Point Park South Melb. Bch Fl.

It’s your good old Kapn Bone here to bring you down to a old fashioned New Orleans Crawfish Boil! For the past twelve years Karen Melcher and her Family have hosted a Crawfish Boil, this year the benefit is for the Cancer Care Foundation of Melbourne. Well we start out at the airport to pick up our 300 plus pounds of freshly shipped Crawfish right from Fisherman’s Cove Seafood in Kenner Louisiana. Then we head on down to Long Point Park just a mile north from Sebastian Inlet. We set up our crab pot’s shucked our corn and quartered our potatoes again thanks go out to Poor Paul’s Produce.

Next in line we started our water boiling, this always seems to take forever but it’s true what they say “A watched pot never boil’s!”. Opening up the first box is always so exciting, lifting the lid I’m greeted by hundreds of little claws, I wonder if they know how there day will end? So we put about half a box in our crab pot and give them a good rinse, add half a bag of the provided boil seasoning stir it real good and then add a hand full of potatoes and a hand full of corn and thirty minutes later heaven!

The first batch came out terrific good spice but for the next one we will kick it up a notch and add more seasoning. Every year they also have Crawfish races for the kids a swimming hole to cool off and several raffles and give a ways. Next year it will be in April, if you want to come and join the fun just e-mail us at kaptb@hotmail and we will make sure that you are on our list.

Now I got to go my crawfish are getting cold, Kapn’ Bone Out
