JAMAIKIN ME CRAZY RETURNS TO THE BEACH FOR 2013

It’s still early in 2013, but I’ve already I’ve heard some of the best news of the year: my favorite weekly reggae party JAMAIKIN ME CRAZY is moving back to the beach!  But wait, it gets better—this year the party will take place in my amazing hometown of Cocoa Beach!

The 2013 season of Jamaikin Me Crazy will kick off on Sunday, March 3 and continue each Sunday through November at Mambos behind the International Palms Resort in Cocoa Beach.  This oceanfront venue features a full-service bar and a two-story ocean deck just steps away from the water’s edge.  I couldn’t have asked for a better venue.  Even if you’re not local, the party is well worth the drive!

What makes Jamaikin Me Crazy so special?  For anyone who appreciates great reggae music and Florida’s beautiful weather and beaches, it’s pretty much paradise.

Jamaikin Me Crazy is the brainchild of top-ranking Florida reggae producer George Toler of Tropical Productions.  Nearly 30 years ago, Toler booked his first reggae band at the infamous Holiday Inn Melbourne Oceanfront.  This quickly turned into a weekly party called JAMAIKIN ME CRAZY that was fast to gain great popularity and success with the local residents.  Toler had found a winning combination—reggae vibes outside on the beach for a daytime party.  The legendary bashment lasted until 2004, when hurricanes destroyed the Holiday Inn.

Locals rejoiced in 2010 when JMC returned to the old site of Holiday Inn, now the Crowne Plaza Melbourne.  JMC and her loyal fans enjoyed almost two full seasons on the beach before management decisions at the Crowne Plaza brought the party to an abrupt halt in summer 2011.  In the years to follow, JMC found temporary homes at Captain Hiram’s Resort in Sebastian and Milliken’s Reef in Port Canaveral.  While these venues were nice and the music kept pumping, it was clear that everyone missed the beach.  There’s just something so right about the combination of the ocean and reggae tunes that everyone can feel, and it cannot be denied or replaced.  Toler sensed this, and searched high and low to find an oceanfront venue to call home.  And that time has finally come--thanks to Mambos!

Join us each Sunday starting March 3 at Mambos behind the International Palms Resort in Cocoa Beach for an experience you’re not soon forget.  Every Sunday will feature a talented LIVE reggae band as well as some of Florida’s top reggae DJs playing the best in Caribbean tunes.  JMC resident DJ Apache runs the scene, but this year, JMC will also feature guest DJs regularly.  These will include Cocoa Beach local DJs C-Lioness (that’s me), Longneck (Mark Longenecker) and Jimmy South, as well as BIG SELECTA Lance-O of the Kulcha Shok Crew in Miami, FL.  Bring your boardshorts and bikinis, surfboards, and dancing shoes, and feel free to come and go from the beach to the dance floor as often as you please.  You’ll see for yourself what a magical combination reggae vibes and the beach can be.  Trust me—this is one party you don’t want to miss.
