Riyue Bay ASP World Longboard Championships hosted by Wanning Set For Good Waves in China

For the past three days the top 36 open field have enjoyed great warm-up conditions as consistent 3 to 4 feet wind swells run for up to 200 meters on the now famous left hand point.

The forecast indicates this year’s event should enjoy good waves right through the waiting period which begins tomorrow.

“It looks like swell all week but we are particularly looking at an increase in swell mid week to get the best conditions for this event which might run over three to four days during the coming five day waiting period,” said Contest Director Dane Jordan.

This is the solitary Men’s ASP World Longboard Tour event for the 2013 season and as such raises the stakes here in China as the event decides the season rankings and the ASP World Longboard Title.

Winning is everything for most of the competitors here including two-time and defending ASP World Longboard Champion Taylor Jensen (USA) who is going for a hat-trick of world titles.

“It’s a very important event for all of us, especially as it’s the one event that decides the ASP World Champion,” said Jensen.

“I would love to win the ASP World Title three years in a row but I’m also here with my family enjoying life and feeling relaxed but once the event begins it will be serious competition for certain.”

Competitors and officials will assemble at Riyue Bay tomorrow for an early call on day one of the event period.

Live scores, photos, daily web highlights will be available via the event website at www.china.prosurfinglive.com

Press releases, media alerts, imagery and VNR’s will be available throughout the event.
