Mick Fanning’s Road to Victory – 2013 ASP Flipbook

LOS ANGELES, California/USA (Wednesday, December 18, 2013) - The 2013 ASP season is done and dusted. The ASP World Championship Tour would end in dramatic fashion, with Mick Fanning (AUS), 32, claiming his third ASP World Title, Kelly Slater (USA), 41, taking out the Billabong Pipe Masters and John John Florence (HAW), 21, securing a second Vans Triple Crown. While the season would end in a nail-biting finish, the final, historic day at the Billabong Pipe Masters was the product of an entire season including 10 events spanning four continents, four islands and new faces that would take surfing to new heights.

Fanning’s previous ASP World Title was secured in 2009, when he was forced to battle with close friend Joel Parkinson (AUS), 32, for the crown in a similar Pipeline showdown scenario. 2013 would see Fanning face a different set of challenges as he would take down a new generation of talent, improving veterans and icons as he emerged as the No. 1 surfer of the season.

Fanning’s third crown cements his name alongside just a few of the world’s most influential surfers as one of just three people to claim three ASP World Titles throughout their career. Fanning’s name now sits alongside the likes of Tom Curren (AUS), 49, Andy Irons (HAW).

With the 2013 season behind us and an exciting 2014 ahead, the ASP has put together a flip book reflecting on the Fanning’s incredible run to yet another ASP World Title and the victories from each stop this season.
