Once again Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach played host to another great sun and surf event. Droves of participants came together to support Surf for Autism. The waves were monster but the riders along with instructors and volunteers made short work of them. It was an uplifting experience to hear
the cheers and to see the smiling faces after each conquered wave.

Preserving Surfing History
Sometimes treated like a stepchild by media in favor of flashier photo-op waves and competitions like those in Hawaii and California, the east coast has actually produced more world champion surfers than those coasts and Australia combined. The contest was a blast with lots of family fun. My favorites were the youngest and oldest divisions. The kids were having so much fun and catching heaps of waves to boot. Parents were pushing them into little rollers that moved them along at amazingly slow speeds. Joe from Inlet Charlies pushed Saiorse into a bunch of well surfed waves and I think I caught her pulling a switch stance mid-ride on
