El Fogon Cuban and International Food

Hey it’s your good old Kapn’ Bone here with this weeks insider food review.

Tonight  Buddha and I  will bring you to a place that will remind you of Red Road, where El Mago De Las Fritas and the famous Blue Sky restaurants’ reside. The home of Cuban food in Miami.
El Fogon will save you the three hour ride, conveniently located at 409 5th. Avenue this little gem will satisfy all of your International cravings with dishes like  Langosta Grille (Grilled Lobster) and Ropa Vieja (Shredded Pork in Red Sauce).

We were greeted by the lovely Marcela a transplant from San Jose Costa Rica and like all Tica’s  opened her restaurant and all it’s flavors to us. In the back of the house, Chef Jorge who just seven months ago left his native Cuba to bring all of his talents to Brevard county was getting  and ready to cook up a storm.
Marcela seated us in the small but comfortable dinning room, you have the option of eating in or taking home all of their delicious dish’s. We sampled the Grilled snapper with a tasty red meitre sauce, the fish was cooked perfectly, flaky and moist.

Next we tried the Ropa Vieja a nice portion of the old style pork marinated and served with plantains and yuca a potato like vegetable garnished with onions and red peppers. Last we tried the  Pincho De Pollo con Bacon Y Pina a jucy chicken skewer loaded with vegetables and mushrooms, all of these items come with two side dishes. Finishing up Marcella brought out the best traditional Cuban Desert, Flan. What a great way to end a meal, warm and that caramelized a taste that is unmistakable.

All of these dish's were terrific, there are so many to chose from, go to www.elfogon321.com and pick out your favorite. El Fogon also has  a favorite Costa Rican selection  the blue plate special, rice beans and your choice of meat.

I  want to thank Marcella and Jorge for such a terrific meal and  look forward to coming back. So when you want to take a trip back to the old days in Miami or Costa Rica give El Fogon a try and when you do tell them Kapn’ Bone sent you!
