Yesterday was a slow start to say the least. Bait was in the port and had it in the livewell before the charter even got there, so a good start. The ocean looked like a mirror. we headed out to a few local spots/wrecks that had produced fish the past few weeks but no good. We went 25 miles south east to the south ridge and nothing. NOT GOOD so far. slowly made our way up to the north, by 11 the bite picked up. We lost several good fish, got 7 kings in the boat, 1 cobia and threw back 3 cobia and 1 BIG cuda. Was a good day and had a really nice family on the boat(that always helps) I have 4 trips on the books this week and will let you know the outcome. thanks Chris - Captain Chris - www.FiredUpCharters.com

Great day yesterday AGAIN!! great kingfish all day. they were in 45 feet of water just off the beach. look for bait schools in the water column and slow troll the pogies. As usual pogies south on the beach.(look for the birds) After our limit we sight fished for cobia and got 2 35 pounders in the boat and lost a few. Great day though. - Captain Chris - www.FiredUpCharters.com

Glass minnows continue to funnel into the northern river with schools of lady fish and trout in hot pursuit. Look for diving birds or surface breakers on calm days and you'll find the fish. Just about any imitation minnow lure thrown into the feeding frenzy will work. Single hooks are best as it makes fish release much easier and though you'll loose a few more than you would with a treble, the ones you release have a better survival rate. All cut bait species are feeding veraciously including mangroves, whiting, pins, cats, etc. - Fish Tales Tours - www.FishTalesTours.com

AWESOME yesterday. for some reason i couldnt get a kingfish bite going?? we had a few kings that got ripped apart by baracuda. few jacks then we searched for cobia and got lucky! we wound up getting about 20 cobia. we kept our limit and released the rest. check out website pics. I hope the kingfish bite picks up for me. Bait is also getting harder to find in the mornings so think about backup sardines or hit all the bouys for small baits. - Captain Chris - www.FiredUpCharters.com

With water temps holding in the high 80's, and glass minnows having moved in to the river, now is the time to be looking for diving birds. Find them and you'll find lady fish and trout below. The best time is early morning while the river is flat as the afternoon prevailing winds have been stirring things up. Once you find a pod cast any type of small imitation minnow into it and you sure to hook a jumping lady on the surface or let it sink a bit and try for a trout. Don't forget that chunk lady fish is a favorite snack of reds and tarpon. A cut slab on a 1/0 hook with a single split shot will do the trick and with patience, will work. - Fish Tales Tours - www.FishTalesTours.com

Fishing was great the other day, I had a 1/2 day charter starting at noon. As we headed out a huge storm was just behind us so we went a little south and stayed close to the beach to let the storm pass, as the radar said it would. After netting a thousand pogies just outside the port, we decided to just slow troll along the beach. first strike was a 15lb blacktip shark. Numerous sharks to follow then the line just started screaming. 40 minutes later we finally boated a 100lb Tarpon. awesome catch! check out the pics on the website. Then the storm passed and the sun came out. We headed just inside of the leadwreck. lines in and fish ON! got 6 nice kings and had 2 nice Cobias in the boat. Not a bad day for a half day charter. - Captain Chris - www.FiredUpCharters.com

Fishing was Awesome again yesterday. King bite was red hot. we had our limit pretty quick. We then decided to go to the shoals to catch some cobia....The coast guard let me know i was not where i was supposed to be....the rocket was going up so i guess they thought i was a threat somehow. they were nice and just doing there job. SO we went towards the pier and found some big jacks and ended the day with some monsters. - Captain Chris - www.FiredUpCharters.com

Kings were decent today. We managed almost 10 good size fish and a nice tripple tail on a 2x4. mahi were not around today. there were awesome weed lines out there that were just empty. (who knows) this season has been off for all the runs of fish. i have another 1/2 day in the morning and if its anything to mention ill let you know. Pogies have been in the port, thick. Get your bait right away and get on out there. all the local reefs are holding bait and fish. - Captain Chris - www.FiredUpCharters.com

KINGFISH- Harder to find the last few days, Still work the reefs to the south for a slow steady pick. Most fish have been good size but definately not red hot like it was a few weeks ago! Use live pogies that are caught on the beach early in the morning. Most bait has been down to the south around the church area and patrick. MAHI- Starting to show up! still not thick like they should be but were hearing reports of number being caught down south so maybe they will be in our area soon. COBIA- Been very good lately! WIDE OPEN so to speak. From patrick north. 30-50 feet and there seen on rays and also some free swimmers. TARPON- theres tarpon on all the bait pods! just find the pogies and youll start seeing the tarpon roll. Good luck catching them. you seem to catch them when your not going for them and not catching them when you are... use big live pogies with flourocarbon leaders. JACK CREVALE- slow troll near the beach and hold on we had 5 up to 50lb the other day. good luck and enjoy the nice weather - Captain Chris - www.FiredUpCharters.com

HEY HEY- been some time since i updated any reports! Team Fired Up just purchased and put into service a new boat. 29' CC Pursuit. So far so good. Soon she will have radar and watch out TUNA! Fishing is just now starting to pick up. Cobia are slowly slowly showing up. A friend of mine had 6 small dolphin yesterday in 140'. I had 3 charters in the last 2 days and did ok with the bottom fishing. A lot of red snapper, sea bass and triggerfish. We had a bunch of cobia swim up from some of the local wrecks but they didnt want to fire up on anything. The water is still pretty cold but with this weather it shouldnt be too long till it warms up a little. Have fun. - Captain Chris - www.FiredUpCharters.com
