We struck up a conversation and I learned he was going to meet Christian Surfers Jaco to give them $ from the Pura Vida 5K that he had recently organized. I was to meet the staff there in Jaco to write a story and take photos. Just doing some volunteer work... Same place. Same people. Coincidence? Both of us were on a planned "vacation", but God had a bigger plan. We said “see you around” and boarded the plane. But…then at the CR airport, we ended up sharing a two-hour van ride to Jaco. We got there late and found a place to stay...it was a true traveler's experience. Definitely not the Ritz! The next day we called a taxi and went to the CR property to meet the staff. We didn't know they had a men's and women's hostel! It was air-conditioned, clean, quiet and hospitable. And for $12 per night we both decided to stay there. There was so much to do with the kids, surfers and the property to just be on ‘vacation’, so we pitched in. My new friend worked on the property and assisted me to organize the Joshua Koutoulas benefit concert to raise more $ for Christian Surfers Jaco. It was an amazing two weeks of hard work, but tons of fun too. Neither of us wanted to leave that last night! Giving to them had given back so much to us. Participating in the Pura Vida 5K will give much to the people in Costa Rica and bless you as well. Thanks Jason! You are the best!
