The water temperature is currently in the 60's with some areas even colder. With the cooler temperatures comes very clear water and great opportunities for sight fishing the flats. Stalking reds and trout in areas that are too dirty at other times of the year. The better areas are south facing shorelines that are exposed to more sunlight and areas with dark soft bottom, which hold heat better.

live in the Tampa, St. Pete area, and have my whole life. But for the
past 5 years ago I have been wanting to move to the East coast. Volusia
county is really where I've been wanting to live specifically. I've
been saving up for the past year or so to make a jump, the only thing
stopping me is not having a job there!<> I really would like to have
one, I'm sick of making a 2 and a half hour drive to go surfing. And
towing my boat that far is out of the question with the way gas prices
are, so I haven't even had a chance to do any fishing over there.

I'm

years experience in pipefitting and welding. I'm also a certified
chemical worker. I currently work in the chemical industry (phosphate,
sulfuric acid, phos. acid, and caustic). If anyone has any leads for me
I am ready to make a move. I'd love to get out there and catch all your
fish...don't worry I'll leave a few for you locals!

Thanks

Aaron

Crazy action!!! At the S.I.S.A tournament the biggest Dolphin 41lb. and only one Wahoo was weighed in 33lbs. The bait is on the beach and Kingfish are mixed in. It is all happening close to the Inlet. Attitude Adjustment had a good half day with 10 Kings. biggest 24 lbs. and a few in the mid teens.

Inshore- Thw water temp is rising and the fish are active. It's gonna be blown out this weekend. It should lay down on Monday. If you can get out start looking for weeds in 120ft. plus. Try rigging some Ballyhoo's(nakeds are my favorites) There were some good reports of some nice big Dolphin last weekend. It was rough though.

Inshore and Sebastian Inlet- The Inlet has been active. The tide is should be slack and switching from incoming to outgoing around 8:30 p.m. If you want to catch Bluefish, Ladyfish, Jacks, and Spanish Mackeral then get down there now. You can't miss! Lots of Greenies moving through on the incoming tides. The Snook bite has been fickle. Hit or Miss! Last week the pins were hard to find. I have started catching a few this week. The Redfish and Trout have been active in the flats. Live Shrimp is always the best for Trout.

Capt. Try the east shorelines north of the Inlet. The Inlet has been fun. The night fishing was really good before the full moon. It has been slow the past few nights, but look for that to change. The tide is incoming in the mornings and the evenings. Slack should be around 1 p.m.

OFFSHORE- Good numbers of good size Dolphin being caught this past weekend. Last weekend was awesome.
Lots of big Dolphin. I had reports of 3 or 4 fish in the 60lbs. range
and lots of fish in the 20lb to 40lb range. If the winds lay down as
predicted then this might be another great weekend to get offshore.
There are few Wahoo as well being caught.

INSHORE- With
this last front and the strong winds. Fishing might be a little slow
and the water may be a little dirty for a day or two. Once it cleans up
look for some Trout on the flats. There have been a lot of smaller
fish. There is always a chance that Redfish will be around. The inlet
has been slow during the days. The evening has plenty of over sized
Reds and a Snook here and there. Fishing is getting good. Everything is
starting to happen.
It was a great experience and I sure learned a lot about dolphin. Big thanks to the scientist of the day Don Hammond for his expertise and passion for them fish. That guy sure is dedicated to learning everything there is to know about the dolphin and sharing it with anyone who will listen.

The purpose of this trip offshore was to tag a dolphin, at least 25lbs, with one of two satellite tracking tags. One of the tags will remain in the fish for 30 days and the other will stay put for 6 months until it pops off and floats to the surface. Data is recorded every 20 minutes.

Thanks a lot Don (aka “don”) for the ride out, Mikey Wahoo, Randy (aka “randy”), and Singlefin Steve.

Well, to make a long story short, I don’t think we could have had a much better day to tag a couple dolphin. Early in the morning the radio sounded like an auction block. “Do I hear 25lbs?” “We got a 30lber boatside” “Ten miles away we got one!” ”We got one, wait too small” “This is Topcat or Bosscat we got one here” “We got a big one, two miles away” “SOLD to the gentleman in the Palmetto!” The first two fish were tagged

Massive schools of flying fish were popping up all around, all the time. We had consistent action all day long. Cruise around for 45 mins to an hour, catch a nice fish. Cruise around, catch a couple more. It was like that until we headed home in the afternoon. Our first fish was a healthy 25lber, but the tagging vessel was already en route for a closer fish. That one got a special tag. A little later we pull in another big cow around 25lbs. Then a sailfish. Then don feels the urge to bottom fish, but we troll on. Then a couple more nice bulls. Then another nice bull.

Every fish was caught on circle hook rigged ballyhoo, minus one dolphin. I was pretty skeptical at first, but Mikey’s ballyhoo hooked the dolphin perfectly every time even without needing to drop back. Of course, most of the fish were big enough to swallow the ballys whole, but they still worked great.

All day long we had sailfish messing up our nice ballyhoo courtesy of Bionic Bait. No small dolphin around except for one big peanut that swam up behind one of our hooked fish. Steve got some crazy underwater pictures of the dolphin and was almost speared by an enraged sailfish while he was snorkeling and taking pictures boatside.

It really was just “one of those days that really makes you love to troll”.

Thanks again everyone involved for making this happen and I am grateful to have been a part of it.
