My best friend Jon Schultz who I surfed with and knew since the mid-70's passed away this morning. There will be a paddle out in his memory this Sunday April 27th at the south end of Officers Club up near 2nd light. Arrival will be at 8am, the paddleout will be at 9am. More info. regarding the memorial services:
Please join us in remembering the wonderful life of father, son, husband, brother and friend to all: Jon.
Friday
evening at 8:00 p.m. will be a Memorial at Gleason Park Rec. Center. We
will be able to remember Jon through a slide show set to his favorite
tunes. Emily would like everyone to write a little something about
their favorite time with Jon. Stationary will be provided.
Saturday
morning: At 10:00 a.m. will be the funeral service at the Holy Trinity
Chapel (50 W. Strawbridge Ave. Melbourne, FL 32901) where Em and Jon
were married. Reception to follow at the church.
Sunday
morning: In the spirit of the Hawaiian tradition, a ceremonial
paddle-out is often performed by surfers who wish to remember and honor
their brethren. We will meet at 8:00 a.m at the Officers Club.
The paddle-out will commence at 9:00.
The
love and generosity everyone has given to Em and the children is
unfathomable. She looks forward to being with those who made their life
so full and wonderful.
I live in San Diego now but will be flying out to be there for four days starting Thursday. Anyone who knew Jon, knew him to be an amazingly friendly guy, great longboarder, and a wavehog! Go to http://drewssurfschool.blogspot.com/search/label/Jon%20Schultz to see more pictures.
Thanks,
Drew Phelps
