Mid January Fishing Report

Mid January Fishing Report

Many charters have been calling me and asking if the fishing is any good this time of year. My answer is, the fishing is about as good as it gets right now. The only thing we are dealing with is the winds. When the weather allows and we can manage to get offshore the king fishing is great. Use your standard stinger rigs and frozen minnows. If you find live bait that’s great too.

In the mix of kings have been mahi, sails and blackfin tuna. Everything is eating the same baits, no need to change anything up. Use your machines and find and mark the bait, once you find that you should be good to go.
Even though you can’t keep any red snapper or grouper right now the bottom fishing is great. The bigger the bait the bigger the fish.  Near shore fishing has really picked up as well. If it’s too rough to get offshore then work the near shore beach line. Pompano and whiting have been great and excellent eating as well. Our shark bite is still in the dumps!! Not sure what it is but hopefully it picks up for the shark trips scheduled. Hope this helps and enjoy the pics
