Fired Up Fishing Charters December Offshore Report

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season thus far. I’m sure most have you have been watching the wind blow lately. The weather mans forecast of 5-10mph. has been about 20mph. off. Good job! For some of our customers we have turned our offshore trips into beach trips if the wind has allowed us to even do that.

The beach trips have been pretty decent lately. There has been a lot of pompano, whiting, croakers and sea trout to play with and its all-pretty good eating. Triple tail has been good too. Look for the floating patches of weeds and use tiny jigs with shrimp or squid. Keep an eye out for Cobia as well. We had a few good days last week. They were in a nice color change one day and weed lines the next. If you were able to brave the offshore, the king bite definitely slowed due to dirty water from the heavy seas.

It’s slowly starting to pick back up though. The clean water is moving in and the bite is picking up. Look for mahi too. There have been a few good weed lines out there and you should be able to put a few in the box. Bottom fishing has been a little tough due to the ground swell. But this should all be settling down this week if the weather man is correct this time BUT we shall see. Good luck
